UBMD Surgery is Now Hiring for a full-time Medical Office Assistant. This individual would work within the Surgery department and report directly to the Practice Manager. The location of this position would primarily be at our General Surgery Office in Williamsville, NY.

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

The Medical Office Assistant will organize the medical facilities function to ensure our office’s smooth operations. The individual hired will perform various tasks on a daily basis to ensure high-quality customer service for our patients. This individual is expected to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Essential Functions of the position include providing support to four general surgeons; greet, and check-in, and room patients in a friendly and welcoming manner; prepare patient charts; take medical histories, explaining treatment procedures to patients; complete medical record requests; prepare the patient for examinations and taking vital signs; collect and prepare laboratory specimens; assist physician/provider during exams; prepare medications as directed by the physician/provider. The Medical Office Assistant will be required to travel to satellite locations and other UBMD offices as needed.

Other functions include establishing and maintaining a professional and polite rapport with all patients and staff; assisting patients with initial paperwork; schedule and coordinate appointments; update and maintain patient’s health records; answering patient’s queries and ensure quality customer service; answering phones, schedule appointments, admissions, and laboratory services.

The Medical Office Assistant will be responsible for maintaining exam rooms and workrooms including ordering of supplies; providing cross coverage within the department when deemed necessary; performing other duties as assigned by the Lead Assistant or Practice Manager; continuing to update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, and use medical software proficiently.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: Medical Assistant Certification required.

Experience/Qualifications: Two years of experience as a Nursing Assistant or two years of experience as a Medical Office Assistant required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to ensure high-quality customer service. Ability to multi-task and work well with a team, required.
